COUPLING & REPAIR

AIS & BABA Compliant Products By Request

When inquiring and ordering, please indicate if Build America, Buy American, or AIS certification is required.

There is a rallying cry in Washington centered around the American Jobs Plan, a hopeful investment in America to create jobs, rebuild infrastructure and better position the United States against foreign competitors.

For water and wastewater municipalities, this means access to low-cost loans and grant opportunities to remediate and update their pipeline infrastructure. A stipulation of many of the infrastructure funding programs require compliance to the Build America, Buy America (BABA),  or the American Iron and Steel (AIS) Provision. BABA and AIS currently require products made mostly from steel and iron be 100% manufactured in the United States, including the raw materials used. Simply noting “Made in America” or “Made in the USA” on a product is not the same as 100% manufactured in the United States. Manufactured processes include melting, refining, forming, rolling and fabrication of steel and iron products are to be completed in the United States.

Dresser Coupling & Repair has proudly maintained a domestic material supply base to manufacture our products, while many others have turned to low-cost countries making it difficult to determine whether products are truly manufactured in the USA. When inquiring and ordering, please indicate if BABA or AIS certification is required. Part numbers will be designated to ensure the product and all raw materials are manufactured in the USA, eliminating doubt or last-minute validation issues. See sample AIS Certification.

For example, the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF), and Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act of 2014 (WIFIA) and assistance recipients to use iron and steel products produced in the United States in projects for the construction, alteration, maintenance or repair of a public water system or treatment works. The AIS provision is now a permanent requirement for all CWSRF projects. Additionally, the America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018 extends the AIS provision for DWSRF projects through fiscal year 2023. Click here to learn more.
